The Kimbell Art Museum is a quiet and beautiful place to see world-famous paintings and sculptures. It’s a great place for families to enjoy art together in a peaceful setting, with spaces and activities designed for kids.

ADMISSION: Free for up to 8 people with DASH Pass for special exhibitions. Present a valid DASH Pass at the ticketing desk in the Piano Pavilion. Admission to the Kimbell’s permanent collection is always free.
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE DASH PASS?: The permanent collection, lectures, and films are always free. The education department has certain workshops that require a small fee. The DASH Pass would grant entry to any special exhibition galleries.

EXHIBITS AND ARCHITECTURE (see website for a full list and calendar):
The Kimbell Collection – Works range in period from antiquity to the twentieth century and include European masterpieces by artists such as Fra Angelico, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Bernini, Velázquez, Vigée Le Brun, Monet, Cézanne, Picasso, and Matisse; important collections of Egyptian and classical antiquities; and the art of Asia, Africa, and the Ancient Americas.

ARCHITECTURE TOUR:
The museum’s 1972 building, designed by the American architect Louis I. Kahn, is widely regarded as one of the outstanding architectural achievements of the modern era. A second building, designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, opened in 2013 and now provides space for special exhibitions, dedicated classrooms, and a 289-seat auditorium with excellent acoustics for music.
ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS:
• Kimbell Kids Drop-In Studio – Free art-making sessions on weekends for families with children ages 12 and younger
• Family Audio Tours – Narrated tours made just for kids (available at front desk); available in English and Spanish
• Learning to Look – This free guide for early learners encourages close looking and creative expression inspired by a Kimbell masterpiece; available in English and Spanish
• Family Festivals – Seasonal events with art making, storytelling, and live performances
